The Yonkers Police Anti-Crime Unit established
in April of 2000, consists of one lieutenant, who serves as commanding officer,
and 12 police officers. This unit functions in a plainclothes capacity as a support system
to the four precincts that comprise the Yonkers Police Department. The primary
purpose of this unit is to address specific problem areas, such as, street
level narcotics, possession of weapons, robberies and prostitution.
This unit not only handles specific patrol problems such as robberies,
auto theft, and larcenies from auto, but also assists the Narcotics Unit and
Detective Division with investigations involving search warrants and surveillances.
