The Second Police Precinct is located at 441 Central Park Avenue and encompasses the southeast quadrant of the city. The precinct is home to many commercial establishments, most of which are located in Cross County Shopping Center and Cross County Square Mall. In addition, the east end of Mc Lean Avenue has numerous restaurant and entertainment establishments. The Second Precinct covers approximately five square miles and has a population of more than 49,000 persons.

In the year 2004 , Second Precinct personnel consisted of one Captain, four Lieutenants, six Sergeants, sixty-one police officers, one senior typist, and a part-time building maintenance mechanic. Twenty-four of its officers received Department Recognition during 2004. The Precinct is divided into five patrol sectors and three foot-patrol posts. This year, officers issued a total of 10,672 summonses. Parking violations accounted for 6,495 summonses; 3,510 summonses were for moving violations and 667 summonses were for city ordinance violations.

The precinct maintains a two-man Auto Theft Unit that focuses primarily along the Bronx River Road corridor. During 2004 they recovered property worth approximately $42,930.00 and effected 30 arrests.
The precinct also has three officers assigned to bicycle patrols. These officers provide an invaluable service in our business areas and handle an array of neighborhood complaints. In addition, the precinct has three foot posts that are covered on a regular basis to interact with the public and help resolve community issues on their posts.
In the coming year, the Second Precinct would hope to continue to work with our many community organizations and business owners to build partnerships that mutually serve the public and the police department.

Second Precinct Police Community Council
The precinct is proud to have an active and supportive Community Council. It offers the precinct a good forum to meet with our many residents and help resolve issues they may have in their neighborhoods. The community Council has also been very generous to the precinct and we look forward to continued cooperation. The Second Precinct Community Council meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the Lincoln Park Jewish Center located at 311 Central Park Avenue.
